Affordable Travel Locations: Summer 2023

Looking for a getaway this summer but not wanting to break the bank? Read on for a list of some of the best, cost-effective travel locations for 2023. The list is compiled of locations that don’t always appear on the typical tourist itineraries when flying from the UK, making it feel like an exclusive holiday destination without having to spend too much.

Corfu, Greece

Old town, Corfu Town

Greece is beautiful in general, but the island of Corfu creates the feeling of a romantic island whilst remaining relatively price friendly. You can grab a return flight from £150 per person, depending on the airline; for summer months, the prices are lower in June & July but rise to around £200pp in August. Accommodation is very well priced, using rental companies such as booking.com you will be able to rent a private apartment from £50pp per night. Corfu has entertainment and history in abundance, it is a picturesque island to stay on for a short stay, or longer if you have the opportunity! Read more about Corfu in our Blog Posts

Bulgaria

Whilst Bulgaria is not necessarily the first thought when it comes to summer travel locations, there are some beautiful beaches on the East Coast. You can get flights to Burgas (on the East of the island) from the UK from £180pp. Apartments are affordable with prices starting at around £45pp per night, offering beautiful views across the coast. It’s a family friendly location, with plenty of activities for children and adults, as well as layers of history and stunning landscapes!

Malta

Crystal Lagoon, Malta

Malta is a beautiful island in the middle of the ocean, between the continents of Europe and Africa, making it a melting pot of different cultures and history. You can get cheap flights from £117 per person, and accommodation from as little as £69pp per night- depending on the area of the island you stay in. The island contains some of the world’s oldest relics, as well as some of the filming locations for Game of Thrones! The cities provide that quintessential European feeling, but the prices for food and drink compare favourably against the likes of Italy or France. Portugal

A location already frequented by UK tourists, Portugal is known for its great weather, food and culture. There are some great spots that are lesser-known to tourists that still provide that summer holiday vibe, I found some interesting places on this guide for underrated Portugal locations: Culture Trip Guide . Flights are budget friendly, with returns costing around £87pp. Upon first look, accommodation is more expensive than some of the other locations mentioned our list, but if you dig-deep you can find apartments from as little as £75pp per night.

Croatia

A colourful, culture rich country with plenty to do and see, as well as being affordable for UK travellers. You can grab flights from £110pp and the accommodation is one of the best on this list, in terms of value for money: £60pp per night can get you entire apartments and small houses with private pools!

Cape Verde

Looking for something that is affordable but feels like an exclusive holiday? Cape Verde is a beautiful collection of islands, off the west coast of Africa. Known for its ‘island paradise’ vibes, with the beautiful weather to match, this location will set you back a bit more on than the other locations on this list, but it is still a budget friendly location when compared with the likes of Bali and the Maldives. You are looking at around £300pp for flights but with accommodation from £38pp per night, you can certainly make up for the money spent on flights.
